Training Services
New clients will start with an in-home initial consultation where we’ll discuss your goals and motivations for starting your training journey. We'll review your dog’s background, daily routine, temperament, and breed to uncover the causes of unwanted behaviors and the best approaches to take.
We’ll also cover essential tools for success, such as crates, slip leads, long-lines, muzzles, food rewards, treat pouches, place cot, e-collars and more.
This is where we will make our recommendation on which training options would be best moving forward.
What is your style of training?
My training style prioritizes these methods:
-
Encouraging desired behaviors by building positive associations through rewards your dog finds motivating. Building trust with your dog is key; when they feel safe, they’re more likely to turn to you for help, listen and follow you.
Rewarded behavior is repeated behavior.
-
Balanced training uses both rewards and fair corrections to create clear communication and set healthy boundaries. Corrections, when applied thoughtfully, keep dogs safe and help them understand what’s expected. These might include verbal cues, spatial pressure, a tap on the e-collar, or removing access to an object or space.
We also utilize a variety of training tools — such as food rewards, place cots, slip leads, prong collars, e-collars, and muzzles — depending on each dog’s needs and training goals.
Training tools are not shortcuts. When used responsibly, they provide clearer communication, improve safety, and support consistency. This makes it easier for owners to reinforce training in daily life, leading to lasting results.
-
Consistency is key in dog training. Inconsistency will confuse your dog, that’s why our training requires dedication from the owners to implement lifestyle changes to support their dog’s progress. Training takes time, patience, and often some trial and error — but you’re not alone in the process.
-
We always take a step back to look at the full picture and encourage owners to do the same. Our approach depends on the dog, the owner, and their lifestyle. Training isn’t one-size-fits-all, and sometimes we adjust our methods to fit what works best. Our goal is to make training practical and sustainable for everyday life.
What topics are covered during our training?
Whether you have a new puppy, need a training refresher, or want behavior modification, our goal is to set you and your dog up for lasting success by building a strong foundation of good habits, safety, and connection.
Training sessions are tailored to fit your dog’s needs and specific challenges; some topics we will cover include:
-
Poor leash manners are some of the most common challenges dog owners face.
Loose leash walking teaches your dog to stay in your “bubble,” attentively following your movements without pulling ahead, lagging behind, or dragging you in different directions. This is achieved through structured leash work.
Stress-free walks are key to bonding with your dog. Leash work builds focus on your cues, fostering a cooperative relationship. Your dog learns to move when you move and stop when you stop, creating calm, enjoyable walks.
-
Basic obedience may include, but are not limited to:
How to use marker words, crate training, potty training, sit, down, release command (break), place training, threshold manners (entering/exiting doorways), recall/come.
-
Exposure and socialization training helps dogs become confident and well-adjusted by introducing them to new sights, sounds, people, and environments.
True “socialization” really means teaching neutrality — calmly observing the world without reacting — which builds focus, self-control, and confidence.
-
Behavior modification focuses on replacing unwanted behaviors with positive, appropriate responses. Whether your dog struggles with reactivity, aggression, or separation challenges, we guide you toward lasting change.
By addressing root causes and using techniques like desensitization and neutrality training, along with lifestyle or routine adjustments, we help your dog respond differently to triggers. This is a gradual process that builds confidence and understanding over time.
-
E-collar training uses a remote-controlled collar to communicate with your dog in a precise and controlled way. It’s a training tool designed to reinforce commands, improve focus, and strengthen the connection between you and your dog. By providing a consistent, clear signal, the e-collar helps your dog understand what is expected of them, even in distracting or high-energy situations.
When paired with positive reinforcement, e-collar training teaches dogs to respond reliably to commands, enhances their ability to self-regulate, and encourages calm, focused behavior. This method is especially useful for off-leash reliability, recall, boundary training, and managing reactive tendencies. Ultimately, the goal is to improve communication, promote safety, and build a confident, well-mannered dog that understands your guidance in a variety of real-world environments.
✨It's important to understand that training is most effective when it's consistently integrated into your everyday life. The work we do together is just the beginning — your dog’s progress depends on regular reinforcement and continued structure at home. Lasting results come from treating training as a lifestyle, not just a temporary phase. Training is only as successful as the owner is consistent!
