Training Programs
New clients will start by completing a training application, then scheduling an in-home initial consultation where we’ll discuss your goals and motivations for starting your training journey.
What is your style of training?
My training style prioritizes these methods:
-
Balanced training uses both rewards and fair corrections to create clear communication and establish healthy boundaries. When applied thoughtfully, corrections help keep dogs safe and allow them to clearly understand what’s expected of them. These may include verbal cues, spatial pressure, a tap on the e-collar or removing access to an object or space.
We utilize a variety of training tools based on each individual dog’s needs and training goals, including food rewards, place cots, slip leads, e-collars and muzzles when needed. Training tools are not shortcuts — when used responsibly, they enhance communication, improve safety, and support consistency. This clarity makes it easier for owners to follow through in everyday life, leading to long-term, reliable results.
-
Consistency is key in dog training. Inconsistency will confuse your dog, that’s why our training requires dedication from the owners to implement lifestyle changes to support their dog’s progress. Training takes time, patience, and often some trial and error — but you’re not alone in the process.
-
We always take a step back to look at the full picture and encourage owners to do the same. Our approach depends on the dog, the owner and their lifestyle. Training isn’t one-size-fits-all and sometimes we need to adjust our methods to fit what works best. Our goal is to make training practical and sustainable for everyday life.
What topics are covered during our training?
Programs are tailored to fit you and your dog’s’ specific needs, but some topics we will cover include:
-
Leash work isn’t just about walking politely — it’s about connection. Calm, structured walks build focus on your cues while supporting nervous system regulation and co-regulation between you and your dog. The result is clearer communication and more relaxed, enjoyable outings together.
-
Basic obedience and foundations will include:
Sit, down, place, recall, release cues “break” and threshold manners.
-
Exposure and socialization focus on building confidence in new environments. True socialization means neutrality — calmly observing the world without reacting — which supports impulse control, confidence and focus.
-
Behavior modification addresses unwanted behaviors by teaching more appropriate responses. Whether a dog struggles with reactivity, aggression, or separation-related behaviors, we focus on root causes and use techniques like desensitization, neutrality training and lifestyle adjustments to create lasting change over time.
-
E-collar training uses a remote-controlled collar to communicate with your dog in a precise and controlled way. It’s a training tool designed to reinforce commands, improve focus, and strengthen the connection between you and your dog. By providing a consistent, clear signal, the e-collar helps your dog understand what is expected of them, even in distracting or high-energy situations.
When paired with positive reinforcement, e-collar training teaches dogs to respond reliably to commands, enhances their ability to self-regulate, and encourages calm, focused behavior. This method is especially useful for off-leash reliability, recall, boundary training, and managing reactive tendencies. Ultimately, the goal is to improve communication, promote safety, and build a confident, well-mannered dog that understands your guidance in a variety of real-world environments.
✨It's important to understand that training is most effective when it's consistently integrated into your everyday life. The work we do together is just the beginning — your dog’s progress depends on regular reinforcement and continued structure at home. Lasting results come from treating training as a lifestyle, not just a temporary phase. Training is only as successful as the owner is consistent!
