Will my dog come home dirty?
There is always a chance that your dog will come home messier than when they left, especially during the rainy season. After hikes and outings, I have doggy towels that I will use to do a quick wipe down, but I can’t guarantee a thorough cleaning for your pup. I highly recommend getting your dog equipped for the winter with warm, waterproof jackets/coats to ensure they’re comfortable for our appointments.
What treats do you provide, if any?
You are always encouraged to give me some of your dog’s regular food to use during training; a hungry dog is a motivated dog.
Otherwise, I provide food rewards from multiple high quality brands, including Little Hunter and Real Dog Box.
Little Hunter and Real Dog Box have real, raw, single ingredient treats (such as turkey gizzard, pork kidney, mussels, beef liver, and more!) which make for perfect training rewards and have amazing health and dental benefits!
In addition, I also offer optional chew time during our appointments with high value chews from Real Dog Box. Their chews include lamb trachea, beef back-strap, rabbits feet, whole turkey poults, cow ears, chicken/duck feet, bison lung and so much more!
Check out the shop for more product recommendations.
Do you provide the equipment needed for all your services (i.e. leashes)?
Yes, I will always have slip leads and a treat pouch to use during our appointments, although I highly recommend to all my clients to get their own slip leads as the primary tool for walks and training. If you don’t already have one, check them out in the Pacific Paws shop!
Slip leads are also great because they can easily be turned into a figure 8 lead for dogs who have a particularly hard time with pulling on-leash. This gives us a lot more control over the dog’s movements as well as have a clear line of communication to accurately convey what we’re asking of them.
I do not recommend using a harness for walks as this actually makes pulling a lot easier and more enjoyable for them. It also makes it a lot harder for us to control their movements.
I do however require dogs to have a back-clip harness on if our appointment involves transportation. I use dog seat belts/tethers to make sure your dog is safe and secure while in the wag-wagon (aka my car).
What types of animals do you care for?
I have experience with many different pets and I am confident and capable to care for yours! I can help with your dogs, cats, rabbit, fish, guinea pigs, chickens, goats, you name it!
